The HR Manager, UK and Ireland, will lead the implementation of people strategies across the business to drive growth, productivity, and engagement. The role holder will support the development of the people strategy in collaboration with the Director of HR. The role will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the employee lifecycle are supported through efficient processes and systems as well as building strong relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders, including senior leaders, employees, and customers. This position reports directly to the Director of HR who is based in the US, and has responsibility for a team of 5 HR Business Partners located in the UK.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as strategic adviser to line managers and leadership, providing expert guidance on all aspects of Human Resources.

  • Partner with Centers of Excellence and HR Business Partners globally in implementing effective people strategics aligned with VIAVI's objective and goals.

  • Support and partner with leaders on employee relations matters, performance management, recruitment and retention strategies, talent development initiatives, compensation reviews, training programs, etc.

  • Provide advice and guidance on employment law compliance issues relating to both individual and collective organizational changes, disciplinary procedures and other matters; liaise with internal and external legal advisors where necessary.

  • Collaborate and provide guidance on leadership development activities including coaching and mentoring.

  • Partner with recruiting partners to ensure a seamless approach to all aspects of the recruiting process.

  • Actively promote diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

  • Pro-actively review policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local labor laws.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

  • Experience working in a global multinational and matrixed environment, preferably in the technology sector, is highly desirable.

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment laws and regulations and practical application of same.

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to influence at all levels of the organization, and excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proven experience in handling complex and confidential situations.

  • Able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Ability to provide sound judgment based upon analysis of facts and circumstances.

  • Comfortable presenting to all levels across the organization.

  • Ability to make decisions independently when necessary.

  • High level of integrity and discretion.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred, together with proven experience operating as an HR Business Partner and several years’ experience of managing a team.

  • Working knowledge of Workday is highly desirable.
